YPF SMALL GRANTS FUND
INTRODUCTION
The Charity has long recognised the crucial role of
micro-organisations and small community groups
embedded in local neighbourhoods and communities
across the Beneficial Area. Often volunteer-led, these
groups may lack the capacity and knowledge to access
funding from organisations such as John Lyon’s Charity.
During the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020 and 2021, these
organisations were a lifeline for many children, young
people and their families.
What is the Fund?
The HSC Strategy allocated funding to each Young People’s
Foundation (YPF) to distribute annually as Small Grants
to its member organisations through a local grant making
process culminating in a Grants Panel. These panels
included a representative from John Lyon’s Charity,
local stakeholders and in the best examples, young
people as well.

The Young People’s Foundation (YPF) model is the response
of John Lyon’s Charity to the ongoing pressures on the
Children and Young People’s sector and specifically the
issues faced by the voluntary sector in our Beneficial Area.
The Charity has established YPFs in all the eight boroughs
