YOUNG CARERS
YOUTH ISSUES
The Charity has historically supported work with
young carers where there are existing Carers
Centres in the Beneficial Area. Cold spots with no
Carers Centres were identified, with inconsistent
identification processes and lack of services
for young carers. The Replication Fund has
supported Brentford FC (Ealing) and Dream Arts
(Westminster) to replicate their local services for
young carers to meet demand in other parts of the
borough. Further grants are to be considered in
2024/25 to ensure young carers have access to high
quality activities and services that are appropriate
for their needs.
The Charity has always supported a range of
specialist organisations that work with children
and young people on specific topics or those who
experience particular vulnerabilities. Often these
services have a limited geographical reach but
young people from other areas are not immune
to these issues and could greatly benefit from
specialist services. Settle Support is a charity
that works with experienced young people as they
move into their first home so they can confidently
transition into independent living and thrive.
With support from the Replication Fund, Settle
Support has been able to replicate its services
originally funded in Barnet and Ealing to Camden
and Hammersmith & Fulham.
EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
Support for the emotional wellbeing of children
and young people has been a significant priority
for the Charity over several years leading to well
established and highly replicable services in many
parts of the Beneficial Area. Closer analysis showed
that there were areas that were under served
and that post pandemic the need for emotional
wellbeing support for children and young people
was more critical than ever before. The Replication
Fund has enabled the Catholic Children’s Society to
significantly increase their reach into schools within
the Charity’s Beneficial Area, growing from 15 to 27
schools over the past three years.
YOUTH CLUBS
Support to Youth Clubs has always been a strong
focus in the Charity’s funding portfolio but with
traditional youth club buildings concentrated in
the inner boroughs of the Beneficial Area this leaves
a gap in youth workspaces in the outer boroughs.
An example is in Ealing, where the Charity has been
working with Young Ealing Foundation to secure
and identify appropriate spaces to host activities
or young people; this work is ongoing across the
six years of the HSC Strategy.
